About Us
Tadley Scottish Country Dance Club, also known as Tadley Scottish Dancers started life in the 1960's at the Boundary Hall, Tadley; the hall of residence of the then AWRE.

For many years the club used various halls in and around Tadley, then in 2022 the club relocated to the Sherborne St John Village Hall.

Members meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:15pm, starting with formation practice, followed by dancing until 9:30pm. The dancing season is from September to the end of June.

During the year we hold an Annual Dance at the end of October, a Christmas Party, a Burns Supper, a Spring Dance just before Easter and an End of Season Dance at the end of June.

In addition we occasionally provide a demonstration at local village fetes.

What is Scottish Country Dancing?
Resources Click below
Scottish Country Dancing (SCD) is a sociable dance form with roots stretching back for centuries.

Dancers are grouped into sets, typically of 3, 4 or 5 couples arranged either in two lines, or in a square, and work together to dance a sequence of formations.

This will leave them in a new order, and the dance is repeated enough times to bring them back to their starting positions, with everyone dancing each position in turn.

It is usual to dance with different partners during an evening - so no need to come with a partner.
